The Caring Calls program provides telephone support to former Shepherd’s Center volunteers who are now homebound. The volunteers restore the spirits of the older person by providing friendly, supportive phone calls one time per week per call recipient.  Each volunteer is encouraged to provide Caring Calls to two or three homebound older persons.

Caring Calls volunteers are recruited, trained and supported by Shepherd’s Center of KCK. The volunteer is someone who cares about older persons, is positive and friendly, and is a willing listener with good interpersonal and telephone skills who is able to follow through with commitments.

Persons who receive Caring Calls benefit from new and renewed friendships from those who have not forgotten the connection they have had with Shepherd’s Center. Caring Calls volunteers benefit from the warm connection with those who have enjoyed the activities that Shepherd’s Center provides.
